Halloween 2016.

Finally my niece Robyn was lucky enough to have me in her hood to pin me down to do her Halloween makeup. Here is a simple, yet effective Sugar Skull, one of my favourite looks to do. This type of Halloween makeup can be sexy as well as scary.. I have listed all products used below..

Grimas face paints in Black & White, Maybe its Maybelline black gel liner for the lips. (i used this as much longer lasting!)  All jewels from the Pound Shop!! Its amazing what bargains you can pick up from this place.. I finished it off with a slight dusting of iridescent  glitter blown all over the face to add a slightly different twist to the look.

Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!!! xx

From London to New York City...

Onyii & Co @NY Fashion Week

Onyii & Co @NY Fashion Week

Whilst in NYC back in September I finally caught up with my old friend Rachel Toledo (formally Rachel Wood & one of New Yorks top makeup artists) for some overdue cocktails at the Standard Hotel roof top in the Meat Packing District of Chelsea, alongside catching up on gossip the best news is…

TMS is pleased to announce a exciting collaboration with Rachel of sending TMS graduates over to assist her backstage during NY Fashion week.. More details on this project to follow!! But for now, we catch up with the shows Rachel has been working on during last months fashion week & the looks created.

Working alongside South Carolina based designer ‘Storm Dorris’ who has showcased for the first time in NYC Rachel gives us the low down on how she creates each look.

“For this show I wanted a waterlily pastel colour look- nothing too perfect, softer washes of colour. I also brought in celebrity nail artist Rachel Shim ( who’s clients include Naomi Watts & Amy Shumer) She created an array of pastel nails and attached real fresh flowers to accent them.  It is interesting when working with designers who may have an aesthetic that works in their city but it is my job to make sure that they look current enough to compete in NYC. I usually try to give each designer a look that will enhance the collection, make it shine and have an edge’

‘We also had designer Kelly Dempsey formally on Project Runway-  Rack Addik. With newer designers sometimes you get more fun and unusual type of fashion. Her collection was straight out of the Spice Girls closet circa 1993. Everything from sequins to platform shoes walked down the runway. So we created a makeup look that I liked to call barbie on an acid trip- lots of silver glitter and big lashes.

Lavanya Coodly was another designer where my teams had a challenge of creating multiple day and evening looks so the makeup and hair styles were split between a natural clean skin with messy hair andknotted up do’s with a dark vamp lip for evening.

But I’d have to say my favourite look was for designer Onyii & Co. who’s ethnic colourful prints paired perfectly with mirrored glossy orange/red lips and toes. My team and I also created fake freckles on all the girls which came out really beautiful’

Bobbi Brown Masterclass Brighton

Last Friday we hosted a very fun night with Bobbi's Brighton girls at the Brighton store. The Makeup was demoed by the super talented Michelle who is one of the brand trainers. The look was based on keeping skin looking like skin, dewy & flawless..  I have listed the products which i think are kit essentials, such as the BBU palette, a firm favourite of mine for sure.. Cuts on lugging around bulky bottles & covers all skin tones, from foundation to concealers & correctors.

I am a huge fan of Laura Mercier's Eye Basics, if you have done my course you will know this to be true, however I am pleased to announce that Bobbi has the rival product!! The Long Wear Eye Base is fantastic. Smooth & silky, perfect for all ages to cover any uneven tone on the lid & of course preserving eyeshadow.

The tools that have caught my eye to achieve this flawless look are the Full Coverage Touch up Brush & the Full Coverage Face Brush don't be put off by the fact it says full cover, if you are looking to keep foundation application light, these brushes do both!

Finally the star of the show is the product Bobbi describes as a 'Fountain of Youth' Extra Repair Nourishing Milk. with moisture of a face oil this product can be worn under or over makeup. Use it to revive your makeup at the end of the day or to simply add more dewiness to your skin.. Its lightweight & smells divine. xx

Work work work

Well not really, as we all know my motto is do a job you love & you will never work again!! Yesterday was lots of fun working with the band 'Madness' shot on green screen so can't wait to see the finished result. A big shout out to my amazing assistant Naj ❤️ THANK YOU.

It may not look like much makeup was going on but there was, managing to convince 6 burly men that they do indeed need a little camouflage is no easy task, but we did it. The products I love to use are: Smashbox Colour correcting primer adjust, perfect to correct any high colour, Bobbi Brown 'foundation sticks' for t zone; I'm not a fan of putting foundation all over when doing male grooming, it looks fake & for guys such as the aforementioned, would not feel comfortable. Finishing off with a light dusting of bronzer to warm up the skin, I used Kevyn Aucoin 'matt bronzing powder' & to keep shine at bay under the hot lights Laura Merciers 'Smooth Focus' pressed powder.

As soon as the promo is released I shall post for all to see, & guys please do keep a look out on the TMS Agency Page for assisting jobs. It could be you by my side on the next one.  ❤️❤️ J
