TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Fees:

1.1 Full payment of the course is required to secure place on the course. The attendee’s place on the course cannot be guaranteed until full payment is received.

2. Methods of Payment:

2.1 Fees can be paid in cash if done so in person.

2.2 Fees can be paid by Paypal for UK and overseas residents.

2.3 Fees can be paid under a personal payment plan before and after the course. This will need to be discussed with The Makeup School and will be verified in the booking confirmation letter.

2.4 The Makeup School is able to send out invoices to companies paying for the course (see conditions 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4)

3. Late Applications:

3.1 If there are any places available on the course, The Makeup School will accept bookings right up until the course commences.

3.2 If attendees apply within 5 working days of the course commencing we are unable to guarantee that the booking confirmation will reach you by post prior to the start date. The Makeup School will confirm the course booking by telephone or email. Attendees that require additional information, please email contact@themakeupschool.co.uk

3.3 Late applicants must pay full course price before or on the day The Makeup School course commences. Cash in person is acceptable in this instance (see condition 2.2).

4. Overseas Applications:

4.1 Attendees must provide contact details of their residence in the UK prior to the course start date.

4.2 Attendees must ensure that their place on the course is confirmed and that the course is running before making any travel arrangements. We do not offer refunds for travel and accommodation (see condition 6.3 for further details).

4.3 If you do not hold a UK/EU/EEA passport, a visa that allows you to study in the UK in order to attend The Makeup School will be required. Please contact the Home Office website at www.ukvisas.gov.uk for further information. It is the attendee’s responsibility to determine how far in advance a visa application will be required in order to obtain a visa before the course commences. The Makeup School will not allow the student to attend the course if no valid visa is available beforehand. In these circumstances, the attendee will not be eligible for any refund of the course fees.

4.4 If attendees cannot be present at the course as the visa has been delayed The Makeup School shall offer the opportunity to transfer onto a course at a later date. If the visa application has been refused, no refund shall be offered.

4.5 Attendees will need to present passport and visa when enrolling at the start of the course, otherwise attendance will not be allowed.

4.6 The Makeup School courses are taught in English. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to be proficient in written and spoken English so that they are able to take part in group discussions and presentations during the course.

5. Cancellations by The Makeup School Attendee

5.1 Course fees will be refunded as a goodwill gesture, except in circumstances where less than 2 weeks notice is provided, in which case a 25% deposit will be retained by The Makeup School.

6. Cancellations by The Makeup School

6.1 The Makeup School reserves the right to amend or cancel courses, change the course location, and substitute lecturers/ tutors.

6.2 If The Makeup School cancels a course, we shall endeavour to give you at least one week’s notice. The attendee will be provided with the opportunity to transfer to another course, or receive a full refund of the fees.

6.3 The Makeup School will not be liable for any losses (including, but not limited to, travel and accommodation costs) arising as a consequence of any cancellation of courses, amendments or time-tabling constraints as set out above and beyond the cost of the course fee.

6.4 Should The Makeup School need to postpone a class for reasons we are responsible, including but not limited to staff illness, we will make every reasonable effort to reschedule the class or add the missed hours onto the remaining course classes.

7. Transferrals and Substitutions

7.1 Attendees may transfer onto another course up to one month before the course start date. Only one transfer may be made by the The Makeup School attendee.

7.2 Transfer requests must be confirmed in writing to The Makeup School.

7.3 Attendees may not transfer onto another course once it has started.

7.4 If an attendee is unable to attend a course no substitutions can be made.

8. The Makeup School Attendees, Conduct and Attendance

8.1 The Makeup School attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner. All attendees are expected to co-operate with one another in order further their training. If an attendee becomes persistently disruptive we reserve the right to offer a verbal or written warning, and in more extreme cases, ask the student to leave the course.

8.2 Due to copyright laws, the use of audio and/ or visual recording is not permitted during any of the courses by attendees.

8.3 The Makeup School attendees are asked to wear appropriate footwear and clothing to practical classes. Attendees who fail to comply with this will be unable to participate in the practical courses.

8.4 Non-attendance of classes due to illness, personal or professional reasons does not provide the right to a refund, extra tuition or transfer. The Makeup School will consider all the circumstances and take action that is considered to be fair and reasonable for all parties concerned.

8.5 The attendee may be required to pay additional charges for the alternative options that are provided.

9. Materials and Equipment

9.1 The Makeup School course fee includes the cost of basic materials which will be provided.

9.2 The Makeup School courses will provide attendees with a makeup kit for the duration of the course. These materials will remain the property of The Makeup School post course completion.

9.3 Attendees of the 5 day Intensive Course will receive a complimentary brush set to keep. Attendees of the Mini Weekend course will not receive the brush set.

10. Certificates

10.1 To achieve a certificate from The Makeup School attendees must be present at no less than 80% of the course and demonstrate progression in their study of makeup artistry. Attendees that comply with this will be presented with a certificate at the end of the course. The name given on the booking form will be the one that appears on the certificate. If the attendee misses the last session due to reasons for which The Makeup School is not responsible then a replacement certificate can be sent via a postal service. If for any reason the student does not receive a certificate, then a replacement shall be sent once their attendance has been confirmed by the course tutor.

11. Force Majeure

11.1 The Makeup School shall not be liable for any failure or delay of the performance of the courses arising from or attributable to acts, events, omissions or accidents beyond reasonable control including, but not limited to strikes, lock-outs or other industrial disputes (whether involving The Makeup School’s workforce or the workforce of any other party); act of God; war; riot; civil unrest; malicious damage; compliance with any legal or governmental order, rule regulation or direction; accident; breakdown of plant or machinery; fire, flood, storm, volcanic ash; pandemics, epidemics or other outbreaks of disease of infection; failure in the public supply of electricity, heating, lighting, air conditioning or telecommunications equipment.

12. Course Location

12.1 The Makeup School courses will be held at FILMPLUS, 77- 81 Scrubs Lane, London NW10 6QW. This location will be verified in the attendees’ booking confirmation letter.
